The new season is a great reason to make and keep resolutions. Whether it’s eating right or cleaning out the garage, here are some tips for making and keeping resolutions.
Make a list
Check the list regularly
Reward yourself
Think positively
Lists are great ways to stay on track. Write down some big things you want to accomplish and some smaller things, too.
Check the list regularly
Don’t forget to check in and see how you’re doing. Just because you don’t achieve the big goals right away doesn’t mean you’re not making progress.
Reward yourself
When you succeed in achieving a goal, be it a big one or a small one, make sure to pat yourself on the back.
Think positively
Positive thinking is a major factor in success. So instead of mulling over things that didn’t go quite right, remind yourself of things that did.

Now that winter has arrived, please don’t forget about the investment in your backyard. Let’s begin with your pool cover. If you have a stretch solid cover, try to keep most of the water and debris to a minimum. The water bag style solid cover is similar; however, if your cover continues to contain water even in dry times, that is an indication the cover has holes in it. If this happens, contact your pool professional as soon as possible. With a mesh cover, you can keep off debris. If you see water coming up through the cover, you should lower the pool level so you don’t see water coming through the cover, but never drain it completely. Please remember that any type of cover has a life span. If a pool professional recommends replacement, it is not for the sale. Rather, it is for safety and protection of your pool. Now about the heart of your pool- the filtration system. Your equipment should be on a solid non-combustible slab. Normally you should keep your system 3-4 inches above the ground to keep debris away from mechanical parts of the system. If you are thinking about any repairs or upgrades, now is the time for two reasons. Your pool professional should still be quoting last year’s prices. Most importantly, you won’t have any delays or problems when you open the pool in the spring.
